The Webber Independent School are delighted to announce another exceptional set of GCSE results for our Year 11 Class of 2021!
After what has been a particularly difficult year for our students, they have worked incredibly hard showing resilience, determination and drive to achieve something quiet spectacular.
Here are a few key highlights:
- 100% of pupils achieved Grades 9 - 4 in both English and Maths, well above national standards,
- 46% of pupils achieved Grades 9 - 7
- With a Value-Added Score of 1.14 (meaning students achieved 1.14 grades higher than their entry point benchmarks grade)
This academic year has been one like no other with our students spending a large proportion of the last 18 months learning from home in our Virtual Webber Classrooms. Despite the many, many obstacles they faced our students, with the help of their excellent subject teachers, have continued to work hard toward these very well-deserved GCSE grades.
Samantha Gomez, Head Girl, who achieved eight Grade 9s and one Grade 8 was overjoyed with her results. “I’m really proud of the grades I have achieved this year and have been accepted by my Sixth Form of choice to study Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.”
Samantha, who joined The Webber Independent School in Year 5 received our highest GCSE results of 2021.
Another fantastic success story came from Lauren Brownhill-McCall, “I was anxious in the days leading up to my GCSE results and worried I may not have achieved the grades I wanted, but I’m really pleased with how I did and proud of the hard work I have put in this year.” Lauren will also be attending Sixth Form at her school of choice to study Biology, Psychology and Core Mathematics.
Oliver Johnson, who joined the Webber family in Year 9 achieved Grades high enough to secure himself a place at two top local grammar schools, Oliver now has the brilliant problem of choosing which one he would like to attend!
Jamie Lo, who joined The Webber Family in 2020 was our highest achieving boy with four Grade 9s, two grade 8s and one Grade 7. Jamie transferred from Shatin Piu Ying College in Hong Kong during a time of extreme uncertainty and escalating protests and has flourished at Webber.
Jamie’s first experience of The Webber Independent was through our Virtual Webber Classrooms but he quickly settled in and built strong relationships with his teachers and peers. We are particularly proud of Jamie, the obstacles he has overcome and the hard work he has put into achieving such high GCSE results.
Our highest achieving girl of 2021 was Deputy Head Girl Amaya Sokhi, who joined The Webber Independent in Year 5. “I’m so pleased with my results and really proud of all my friends at Webber.” Amaya achieved seven Grade 9s, one Grade 8 and one Grade 7 and secured herself a spot at her Sixth Form of choice to study Spanish, English Literature, Psychology and a Diploma in Financial Studies from the London Institute of Finance.
Headmistress Hilary Marsden greeted each Year 11 student this morning before handing them their much-anticipated results.
“I’m extremely proud of our Webber results which continue to improve year on year. But this year after 18 months of switching between Virtual Webber and classroom based teaching this cohort worked right until the 18th June to secure these excellent grades and they should quiet rightly be proud of themselves for this exceptional achievement.
I would like to pay tribute to the wonderful staff at The Webber Independent School and all the parents who have been fantastic, engaged and supportive partners on this learning journey to success.
We are really looking forward to celebrating at our Prom tonight as a fitting send off for these fantastic young people as they step out into the world with confidence and bright futures ahead of them.”
Congratulations once again to our class of 2021 for everything you have achieved this year. Our students are taking their next steps onwards to a wide range of Sixth Forms, Grammar Schools, Colleges and even the Royal Navy.
We cannot wait to see the wonderful things they will all achieve!
