The School supports many charities throughout the year and your generosity always shows no bounds. Last week,we supported the BBC Children In Need and managed to raise a staggering £740, which for a small school is always amazing to see.
Within the Junior school, we always enjoy the opportunity to dress up and it was no exception as the children donned a kaleidoscope of colour from bright vibrant colours, spots of different sizes, Pudsey or Blush onesies and an array of Children In Need merchandise!
Throughout the day, the different year groups completed a host of activities from decorating Pudsey’s bandage, discovering where the money raised may go to and discussing why the charity was formed. The children were also excited for the Teddy Bears Picnic at breaktime. We had an enormous range of teddy bears and our Year 6 Prefects were a brilliant support helping to serve the children juice and biscuits.
For all charity days in school the staff within the Junior and Senior school help their class to understand more about the charity. This is also sometimes led by the Senior Prefects, where they create slideshows to inform the Junior school of the charities and how the money raised may potentially be used. The different ways in which the children learn about the charity included case studies where the class can watch and listen to those less fortunate than themselves. Children In Need always has an impact as they can often empathise knowing that they are helping other young people across the UK with our fundraising efforts.
A big thank you once again to everyone who supported and contributed to our fundraising on the day.
