Welcome Back To Webber!

12 March 2021

How wonderful it has been to have full classrooms and noisy playgrounds this week as we welcomed all our pupils back to School for the first time this year!

There is a lot to be thankful for, we are hopefully at the beginning of the road out of lockdown and the restrictions we have had to live by over the last 12 months. I am thankful for the health and happiness of our family, our pupils, our parents and our staff, I am thankful for the support each and every one of you has shown us over the last 12 months and I am thankful that our Webber Family can be together again in School.

Monday was the first day at real Webber for 24 new children, they have settled in seamlessly and thank you to Form Tutors and peers for welcoming them into The Webber Family.

The last few weeks have been a challenge for everyone, in some ways Lockdown #3 has been the hardest, with pupil and parent fatigue setting in. The cold weather and dark evenings have meant our children could not be outside like they could in the spring. With stress and anxiety levels on the rise the news that Schools could begin to reopen was rejoiced by many!

Despite the challenges of Lockdown, our pupils continued to do us proud during our Online Webber Classrooms, working hard to continue their learning journeys to success. Although we hope not to go back to online learning, we know that we have the flexibility and agility in place to do so if required and that our children's education will not be put on hold.

As always, our pupils and staff have done us proud and soldiered on despite the many, many obstacles that have sat in their way. They have tackled the most recent lockdown with determination, courage and a desire to work hard and we are exceptionally proud of each and every one of them.

In order for us to transition back into School safely our older pupils in Year 7 - 11 have taken Lateral Flow Tests twice this week, which we know must have been daunting and a little uncomfortable. Not ones to complain they remained cool, calm and collected throughout the whole experience, taking it all in their stride with good grace and humour. We are delighted to say that 100% of our Year 7 - 11 families have given their consent and 100% of students in Year 7 - 11 were tested returning all negative test results. The only test we want them to fail!

Our fabulous SLT Team, supported by a team of staff were in charge of the testing and ran things like a military operation, ensuring government guidelines were adhered to and everybody was kept safe.

The first round of testing commenced on Monday, we carried out 146 Lateral Flow Test, all with negative results. Thursday saw the second round of testing take place again with all negative results and the third and final round of testing in School is due to take place on Monday.

Thank you to our parents for your patience and understanding this week and for being flexible around drop off and waiting times whilst we conducted testing, your support as always is greatly appreciated.

It has been a joy to see all the children back in School, enjoying their lessons, catching up with their friends and ready to carry on with their uninterrupted learning.
