Back Together, Back To Learning

26 March 2021

It has been three weeks since The Webber Independent reopened its doors to all our pupils and the last three weeks have been wonderful!

To see our hallways busy again, to hear children laughing and catching up with their friends in the playgrounds and to watch every one of our pupils settle back into School with such maturity has been incredible.

Much to parents’ and teachers’ relief, the safety nets we had in place for helping our pupils ease back into their normal routines were barely deployed.  Instead, the last few weeks have unfolded with a warm and happy glow as children across all age groups settled back into school life as if they’d never been away.  It has been a joy to behold.

Being back in School together has had many challenges, Lateral Flow Tests, Social Distancing and masks for our older students. But as always we have overcome these obstacles together and it is brilliant to see happy children and happy staff back in their classrooms where they belong.

In true Webber fashion the last three weeks have been busy ones. The first week back in School saw us carry out over 450 Lateral Flow Tests with our Year 7 – 11s, each and every one of them took it in their stride with no complaints and we are pleased to say we have so far had no positive test results.

We have celebrated World Book Day, Comic Relief and Wear A Hat Day, where we have raised £343.04! Our yearly fundraising total stands at a staggering £3,705.06, thank you for your overwhelming generosity. The pupils have also competed in Inter House Poetry competitions, Bake Offs and our very own Francovision.

Our Year 11s and their teachers have been working hard planning their GCSE assessments, we have held virtual Parents Evening and sent home termly reports.

As the Easter break approaches it feels like things are almost back to normal. I would like to thank our pupils, parents and staff for their continuing support and patience as we navigated our way through lockdown and finally back into School.

It has been inspiring to watch our pupils, young and old, overcome the challenges the last year has thrown at them with such determination and maturity. I am unbelievably proud of each and every one of them, they are a credit to The Webber Independent School and a real reflection of the hard work and support of our parents and staff.

We are delighted to be back together, back to learning and back to School!
