Our Year 10 and 11 students were treated to an exciting Virtual School Trip this week to the world of work and Robotic Process Automation with Axel Allen, Robotics and Automation Optimisation Manager for Vodaphone.
Our students loved the opportunity to relate their growing software development skills to the real world of work and it was a wonderful opportunity to hear Mr Allen bring the very latest in Computer trends and innovation to life.
Presenting to a class of 15 and 16 year olds is no easy feat, but Mr Allen did so with ease and shared his many years of knowledge and experience with our Year 10s and 11s keeping them captivated throughout.
With the support of Mr Abrams, Mr Allen was able to guide our students through some hands-on tasks, including data scraping, where student were able to pull web content automatically into UIPath (an automation software designed to end repetitive tasks and help business unleash their full potential).
Our Year 10s and 11s remained engaged throughout, listening to Mr Allen speak, reading through his slides and watching some videos on how Robotic Process Automation is being used in the real world.
Here at The Webber we encourage all our student to apply their academic learning not only within the classroom but also out in the big wide world. By providing them with the opportunity to hear from industry leading experts we aim to spark a burning desire and help them pave the way for a successful future after School.
It is through experiences like this we can also attempt to keep pace with rapidly moving innovation and inspire our students not just to be shaped by our culture but have aspirations to lead and shape emerging technologies as they develop.
