ENRICHING EXTRA-CURRICULAR AND SPORT

Creating Challenging and Exciting Experiences

We are committed to delivering an educational experience that drives personal development and growth, and that means getting out of the classroom and experiencing the world.

Life at Webber is interesting and stimulating, and throughout each year our students test their skills in sporting tournaments and inter-school fixtures; experience exhibitions and seminars, visit theatres, museums, and galleries, and take part in musical performances. Additionally, our young people can take part in cultural and language day trips as well as UK and overseas residentials.

Experience Life at The Webber by booking a School Tour, followed by a Taster Day.

GIVING OUR YOUNG PEOPLE CHOICE

BUILDING RESILIENCE

Sport is an important part of Life at The Webber, in addition to Physical Education lessons we offer many sporting activities, from Netball to Football to Gymnastics and Climbing, and much more. Sport is a great way to promote the benefits of a healthy body and mind, as well as teach the importance of teamwork, resilience, grit, and persistence. The Webber Independent School takes part in ISA competitions and sporting fixtures against other independent and local schools, in friendly matches and tournaments.

Students can choose extra-curricular sporting activities that take place during lunchtime and after school (between 4 pm and 5 pm), which is a great way for your son or daughter to do more of what they enjoy and establish strong friendships.

EXPRESSION AND CREATIVITY

A great way for our young people to build their character, become more self-aware, and uncover hidden talents, is to take part in some of our more creative activities. We offer a diverse mix of extra-curricular clubs from learning to play the Ukulele to Mindfulness and Gardening, and much more. Our more creative pursuits are a great way to build creative problem-solving skills, cognitive function, and communication. The Webber Independent School also holds art exhibitions of students’ work, in school and at local art galleries and public spaces, which helps build confidence and presentation skills.

CLUBS

With over 50 extra-curricular clubs and activities for our young people to enjoy, there is something to cater to all talents and individual preferences. The clubs are a great way for students to make friends outside of their Form and Year Group, providing interactions with students across all age groups to build social skills and confidence. So whether your child fancies flexing their strategic mind with Chess; building their business and enterprise skills at the Entrepreneur’s Club, engaging their ecology side with our Bee Club, or putting their bilingual skills to the test with Spanish, the choice is theirs.

GCSE BOOSTER CLASSES

Our priority is making sure that all of our GCSE students have the right support and attention. That’s why we offer GCSE Booster Classes, at no additional cost, during lunchtime and after school.

CADETS

The Army Cadet Force is a great club that builds character, focus, and respect. This club is available to anyone in Year 8 or above and follows the Army Cadet syllabus. Your child will have the opportunity to attend camps and learn skills, such as shooting. The camaraderie of being part of the Cadets is an experience that young people cherish forever.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD

We are a Licensed Organisation (LO) of The Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award Scheme, with a long history of success. Past and current students have achieved their Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards – a testament to their mental strength and adaptability.

The expedition at each level of the award is always a favourite with students. Our students have walked and camped in New Zealand, Malawi, Ireland, the Isle of Skye, the Peak District, the Brecon Beacons, and Dartmoor.
