On Friday 25th June the Nursery, Junior and Senior School students enjoyed our annual Sports Day. Although not quite to the extent of our usual Sports Day, due to none of our lovely parents, friends and family being able to join us, we were thankful to be able to organise a day full of athletic activities for the students to participate in. After a very tough year in the sporting world, it finished off our National School Sports Week in style following the theme of #togetheragain from the Youth Sports Trust. After a lot of early morning phone calls we decided to go ahead even though the morning was rather wet!
The day kicked off with our Little Learners who were all very excited to be in the big sports hall helped by our Year 11 students cheering them on and supporting them. Our Junior school then participated in the bean bag race and sprint event, followed by their field events which consisted of the 3 spring jump, rounders ball throw, slalom run and a seated soccer throw.
Thankfully the sun decided to shine and the Seniors were able to participate in all of their field and track events. We saw some excellent throwing and jumping in the field events, with seven school records being broken. We finished the day off with our track events and again witnessed some fantastic performances, particularly in the Year 9 girls 800m where Maddie broke the school record by 51 seconds!! Most importantly, the students demonstrated great determination, resilience and sportsmanship and were there to cheer each other on. Overall, it was a great sporting day and we hope to welcome back our parents, friends and family next year for an even bigger and better Sports Day.
This years final House Points total was the closest it has ever been with Oak finishing on 1505 and Cedar taking the win on 1506!
