GCSE Examinations

At The Webber Independent School, we are delighted to offer a limited number of places for private candidates. We currently provide 12 standard options for external candidates wishing to take advantage of our examination setting. We may also be able to accommodate additional subjects; however, this will depend on whether there are any specific centre requirements. Please note that applications for non-standard subjects may take slightly longer to process.

This programme is designed to support students who are preparing for their examinations while studying independently. To register, please complete this application form, and our Examination Officer will be in touch.

Please note:

• We do not accept candidates younger than the equivalent of Year 10.
• The standard entry fee is £250 per subject, with a few exceptions listed in the fee structure drop-down section below, with a deadline of 31st January.
• Our deadline of 31st January means we must have received all required information by this date, including payment. Therefore, if you apply too close to the deadline and we do not have all the information we need, your application may be classed as a late entry.
• Applications submitted after 31st January will be considered as late entries, with a fee of £500 per subject (£700 for Modern Foreign Languages).
• Unfortunately, we are unable to accept external candidates for GCSE subjects that include a Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) component.

Access Arrangements

If you have any Special Educational Needs (SEN), our Exams Officer will put you in contact with our SENCo, who will advise you on the required documentation. Please provide as much relevant information as possible, including any existing Form 8 and/or Form 9, an EHCP (if applicable), and any additional supporting evidence.

Please note that the application form must be completed before any SEN-related discussions can take place.

If we determine that we are unable to accommodate your needs, your application will be closed, and no fees will be charged, provided this occurs before the entry deadline. However, if you confirm your exam entries and go ahead, and all required SEN documentation is not received in time for the application to be processed with JCQ, you will still be permitted to sit the examination(s) without access arrangements. However, should you decide not to proceed, you will not be entitled to a refund.

We kindly ask that all candidates, both internal and external (including private candidates), carefully read and understand all documents available via the JCQ Policies and Information for Candidates linked at the bottom of this page.

Once you have completed this:

• Please sign and return the candidate declaration form at the bottom of this page.
• Ensure that all relevant policies you have read are clearly ticked on the form.
• Email the completed form to exams@webberindependentschool.co.uk.

Results Day

Results will be available on Thursday 20th August 2026 from 8:30am. Further information relevant to both Private and Internal candidates can be found below:

Private Candidates: Private candidates may collect their results from the Front Reception Desk between 8:30am and 3pm.

Internal Candidates: Webber children and their parents are invited to attend at 8:30am sharp to open their results. Members of the Senior Leadership Team will be available to provide advice and guidance, including recommendations regarding remarks (officially known as a Review of Marking). Senior staff will remain available until approximately 10:00am to offer any additional support or guidance for candidates and parents.

If you decide to request a Review of Marking, you must read the below Post Results Services Booklet at the bottom of this page and complete the relevant forms contained within it. We strongly recommend reading the booklet well in advance of Results Day so that you can fully understand the process without the added pressure of approaching deadlines shortly after results are released.
