Scholarships

At The Webber Independent School, we offer a limited number of scholarships each year to recognise exceptional talent, achievement and potential. Our scholarships are designed to support ambitious pupils and encourage them to develop their strengths within a nurturing and high-achieving environment.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong track record of achievement in their chosen area. For Year 10 entry, applicants are expected to show strong academic performance, including predicted GCSE grades of 7–9 in at least five subjects, including English Language and/or Mathematics.

Music Scholarships

Music Scholarships are awarded to talented musicians who demonstrate both technical ability and enthusiasm for performance.

Applicants will be invited to:

Perform two contrasting pieces (one may be on a second instrument)
Perform a vocal piece
Complete aural and sight-reading tests
Present a portfolio of musical achievements
Provide a reference from a music teacher or Head of Music

Candidates are typically expected to have completed national music grade examinations, with:

Year 6 entrants — approximately Grade 3
Year 9 entrants — approximately Grade 5 or higher

Music Scholars are encouraged to contribute to concerts, ensembles, and wider school performances.

Art & Design Scholarships

Art & Design Scholarships are awarded to pupils who demonstrate creativity, technical skill, and artistic passion.

Applicants will be required to:

Present a portfolio of artwork
Discuss artistic influences and techniques
Demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm for development
Complete a timed still-life drawing
Complete a written task

Art Scholars are encouraged to contribute to exhibitions, creative projects, and wider artistic opportunities across the school.

Sport & Dance Scholarships

Sport and Dance Scholarships recognise pupils with exceptional ability and commitment in physical performance.

Sport

Sport Scholarship applicants should demonstrate:

Exceptional all-round sporting ability
Club, county, or national-level participation
Commitment to training and competition

Applicants will:

Attend a practical assessment
Participate in an interview with the Head of PE
Provide coach references
Submit a sporting portfolio (video evidence may be included)

Dance

Dance applicants will:

Perform a prepared routine
Present a portfolio of achievements
Discuss training, experience, and ambitions
Demonstrate excellence in their preferred dance discipline

These scholarships support pupils in developing their performance skills and representing the school in competitions and events.

Drama Scholarships

Drama Scholarships are awarded to pupils who demonstrate excellence in performance or technical theatre.

Performance

Candidates will:

Perform a prepared solo piece (approximately one minute)
Perform an unseen reading
Complete an improvisation task
Present a portfolio of performances and achievements
Discuss theatre experience and aspirations

Technical Theatre

Technical applicants will:

Provide evidence of backstage or production work
Present notes, diagrams, or audiovisual material
Demonstrate teamwork and commitment to theatre production

Drama Scholars are expected to contribute to productions, performances, and the creative life of the school.

Complete the school registration form and return.
Arrange a meeting with the Headmistress to discuss the application.

Following registration, families will receive full scholarship information and guidance on the application process.
